A22

Starting out from humble beginnings – Tablehurst began as a social enterprise in the mid-90s – this East Sussex community farm has just won the BBC Food and Farming Awards Food Producer of the Year 2022 title (and was called a 'startling standout' entrant to boot). What well-deserved recognition for the regenerative work done on this organic and biodynamic Forest Row farm.

A midway staging post for Londoners hitting the south coast - or for Gatwick-bound holidaymakers - come for the raw milk from the Jersey herd or for one of the fresh buns or loaves that tumble from the oven at Fermento, Tablehurst's new bakery. The Heritage loaf is a bestseller and their wood-smoked sourdough pizzas are served in the seasonal garden café. Tread the footpaths and chat with the volunteers about biodynamic food and farming, then hit the shop for organic Pie Kitchen savouries, fresh veggies, home-smoked meats and so much more. 'Pooh Sticks Bridge' is temptingly close: throw some twigs in for nostalgia's sake.
