Larger-than-life Jason - one of the fastest oyster shuckers in the east - is the man behind Coopers of Kent, a friendly seafood business that thrives at garden centres and pop-ups around the region.

If you're heading out for a picnic, to barbecue some fish on the beach or are simply hankering after some fine fruits de mer on a drive home from France, veer into Polhill Garden Centre, five minutes from the M25. Here, on Jason's fresh-looking seafood stall, you'll find everything from oysters and colourful crabs to myriad types of prawns, cockles, mussels, whelks, winkles and whole and filleted fish. The ready-to-eat seafood platters teem with ocean treats plus seafood dips, lemon wedges and dill garnish. If you're not squeamish, try the local speciality: jellied eels.
