The name for this record-spinning spot isn't there because its patrons are repenting their wrong-doings, but because the pub occupies the local vet's old barn. Today, Duncan and Claire run their quirky micropub with friendliness and flair. Whether you're driving to a ferry or Eurostar departure or mooching around the Kent Downs AONB with children and dogs in tow, it's worth a visit - especially if you're a vinyl fan as the in-house collection will impress.
Real Kent tipples populate the bar - Canterbury Ales, Dudda's Tun cider, Hop Fuzz lager - and flour milled practically within earshot goes into the pizza bases. The clever menu works in song titles - from 'Sandwich and a Soda' to 'Soul Food' - to introduce its diverse dishes. This is a place for people who like people (and kids...and dogs) with an emphasis on old-fashioned service and good food done well. The Dog House fuels folk from across this little artisan business village which also has jewellery, clothing and gift shops to poke around if you have time.
