Dougie, this wondrously sited cafe's catering manager, is also a dedicated - and plant-powered - conservationist. He's committed to crafting feel-good food that ticks both yours and the planet's boxes: everything is homemade and much is certified organic.
The reserve, on the southern shore of Loch Leven, is a fine place for nature lovers to watch ospreys fish in summer and pink-footed geese arrive in autumn. Spy on lapwings getting loved up on the wetlands or swallows swooping into the 19th-century courtyard, as birds of prey soar above.
The café has panoramic viewing windows and a relaxed, modern feel. Foodie favourites include the VLT, baked tatties with veggies haggis, brie and apple sauce toasties (yum) and the pasta pesto with Scottish cheddar. The organic coffee is shade-grown to bird-friendly standards.
All profits directly support the vital work of the RSPB so don't hold back: go for a full three-course feed and take some treats home.
