No.4 is a great find in the old mining village of Clowne. Andy, John and the team run this smart coffee house in a former toy shop, a building that retains many original wooden fixtures and fittings which lend a nostalgic air. The excellent coffee is roasted locally, and craft ales from Welbeck Abbey Brewery join a considered selection of wines, spirits and gins at the fully licensed bar.

Delicious cakes and sausage rolls are made in-house; the croissants, traditional tea cakes and English muffins sneak in from the Welbeck craft bakehouse nearby. Try a No.4 Rarebit with Red Feather Ale and cheese from the all-day brunch menu or savour a spicy mushroom and jackfruit Mangalore Malabar. On Friday and Saturday nights, No.4 becomes a retro bistro and cocktail bar.

Enjoy a moreish sharing board in the Secret Garden at night, or take a stroll through Clowne's geologically fascinating Greenway in fine weather. Dogs are very welcome during the day.
