Jane Austen herself could not have composed a more picture-perfect scene than the vision of the Pool Garden from Aberglasney's cosy tea-room. Tuck into a homemade afternoon tea or quiche with butter-meltingly hot new potatoes on its suntrap terrace, as playful debates about botanical names float past.
The Kitchen Garden is the source of all things seasonal from crisp, just-picked salad leaves to the apples squished into the delicious crumble. Welsh Brew Tea is on tap and the coffee comes from local roastery, Teifi.
A hidden, horticulturalist's delight in the Tywi valley, Aberglasney's fine gardens rose to fame on the BBC series, 'A Garden Lost in Time'. It's worth a visit to see the immaculate Elizabethan Cloister Garden alone, though the 20 further themed areas to explore include rose, sunken and Asiatic gardens and a tropical Ninfarium. In the Grade-II listed mansion house, art is hung and events are held.
