To experience some true Wensleydale wildlife (well, alpacas) and watercolour-worthy views, pull off the grey A1 and head to The Nest, at the Crabtree Business Centre. It's in such an idyllic rural spot that café visitors have been known to google jobs there, purely for an excuse to return regularly.
The joy of this rustic, oak-framed café is that the glass walls give out onto the gently rolling Yorkshire greenery. Drag your eyes away to order your food - Tara the manager is known for her double chocolate brownies, blondies and in-house baking - then return to eye the alpacas at play in the field (much to the delight of the children in the nursery next door). For a bit of hot drink spice, try a speciality beetroot, matcha, chai or turmeric latte, or settle in for a leisurely lunch. The earthy ceramics are gorgeous.
EV chargers are going in soon (check ahead) and four-legged friends can relax on the sun terrace outside, guaranteed the same authentic Yorkshire welcome as you.
