The family, at the helm since 1840, opened this striking and solid wooden building in 2020. Enjoy home-sourced meat, eggs and rapeseed oil plus high-quality fresh fruit, vegetables and artisanal gourmet goods from local and Welsh suppliers. High welfare and environmental concerns inform all activity at this RSPCA-assured spot.
Light streams through huge windows into the spacious restaurant, whose views take in the Thaw Valley beyond. 'Farm to fork' is the ethos, with signature dishes on the seasonal menu including the truly towering Penllyn Estate burger.
Forage Away offers take-away baked goods and weighty breakfast bagels; baristas create excellent Coaltown coffees. Launch children at the tractor-filled playground or loan them a 'phone to snap selfies with the chickens and alpacas. Dogs welcome outside.
