Little sister to the original Ginger and Pickles in Nantwich, the Tarporley tea-room now plies this high street with delicious baked morsels. It combines with the Bakehouse just over the road - a.k.a. the baking nerve centre - which is where you can pick up sausage rolls, perfect sourdoughs and the day's to-die-for almond croissants. Hot drinks are also available and picnics can be ordered ahead.
If you've got longer to linger, grab a table in the handsome tea-room to enjoy hearty dishes made with the best local ingredients. Think cinnamon toast, cooked breakfasts, crumpet stacks and variations on Staffordshire's famed oatcakes. If the sun's out, enjoy a novel 'Beforenoon Tea' on the pretty terrace. This is a creative slant on the sweeter, afternoon version that swaps cakes and finger sandwiches for smoked-salmon bagels, bacon sandwiches, morsels of cooked breakfast and wedges of toast with jam and chutney. Delicious.
Parking is available just up the road and you can order online via their website.
