M20

If you’re searching for an award-winning gourmet destination in an historic spot, you’ve struck lucky. Welcome to a grand old pub in very pretty Wye run by “a couple of down to earth boys from the North” (their words).

Mark and Scott have created an up-to-the-minute village pub where you’re as welcome to drop by for coffee and croissants as order a good meal – french toast with poached rhubarb or a vegan breakfast to start the day, crayfish croquettes, corn-fed chicken kiev or lamb from the nearby community farm later in the day. Almost everything is made in-house so it’s a foodie’s delight.

This pub is a cool place to be – suave antler chandeliers, purple feature wall – but not so cool that they don’t keep dog biscuits behind the bar (handmade by the chef). So settle into a leather wing back chair, and soak up the vibe. There’s a welcome for all, and if you’re going to hole up in the countryside, you’d do well to do it here. Bedrooms upstairs are simple and uncluttered with a sunny feel.
