House of Meg

The name for this charming tea room was inspired by the house’s connections with a local landlady from the 17th century who gained notoriety for fatally drugging her monied guests. Thankfully Andi has gained his notoriety for truly excellent baking instead, so much so that he is now invited to judge other people’s baking.

There’s a real homeliness to the café, with two rooms leading from the entrance corridor, so there’s plenty of space to find a table and enjoy a proper refuel. Ample breakfasts are served alongside crispy jackets, bowls of stew and, of course, a range of cakes, biscuits, brownies and scones.

Outside, in the pretty garden, there’s a shelter for al fresco dining, or those needing sustenance with their dog after a walk, and the village play area is just round the corner if energetic children need to be worn out.
