Low, stone and L-shaped, the barn is half lifestyle shop and half café: a winning combination. Resident chefs Nicci and Sarah took over in 2018 and added their fresh sense of style to the shop and cooking prowess to the menu. Beneath the vaulted ceiling, strung with fairy lights, lucky customers are served delicious breakfasts, lunches and afternoon teas, perhaps beetroot and goats cheese tart, fishcakes, or coconut or Victoria sponge. The menu changes practically daily depending on what's in season, and much of it is cooked on the prized vintage Aga.
There's a small, hedge-trimmed courtyard just outside the run of patio doors so you can listen to the chirrup of birds over a restorative cuppa.
