It’s easy to wax lyrical about the fantastic and utterly unique Loch Arthur Farm Shop. It stands next to a peaceful pond in the working Camphill Community, which offers independent living and working opportunities to people with learning disabilities. Their numerous workshop activities produce an array of lovingly made items which are then sold in the shop. Whether organic vegetables, cheeses, freshly-baked breads, woven goods or wood-worked crafts, the fruit of the Community’s labours are first-rate, and the farm shop is a showcase.
The shelves provide almost everything you could want for your onward journey – cakes, pies, biscuits, meat and eggs as well as pottery and gifts – while the oak-framed café is a tranquil spot to pause over a slice of cake or a light meal. Take a seat by one of the many windows to soak up the rural views and bask in the warmth of this wonderful social enterprise. Coffee is organic and best served with homemade biscuits.
