A46

Doddington Hall is a grand, late-Elizabethan mansion. Completed in 1600, it hasn't been sold or cleared out since. The Birch family now live in this much-loved family home, custodians of a vast collection of art, textiles, weaponry and family anecdotes. Explore the hall at your leisure; the gardens are faithful to their original Elizabethan layout and include formal, wild and productive Kitchen Garden areas.

The farm shop overflows with estate-grown fruit and veg and the cream of local producers' crops. Think craft ale, honey, local eggs, sausages and Lincolnshire Poacher cheese. Browse the shops - Doddington at Home, Farrow & Ball, Country Clothing, Giant bikes - then unwind in the café. There, you'll find pasture-fed Lincoln Red beef (a rare breed raised as part of the Wilder Doddington nature recovery project), game and foraged finds. Dogs are welcome in the coffee shop and on the free-to-access estate walks (open daily until dusk). The hall and gardens are ticketed.
