Chicken scratch happily in the fields alongside, and birds sing merrily from boughs in the orchard: the relaxed atmosphere and bucolic views make Ellenden a princely stop on any journey.

The farm shop was set up initially to promote the Turner family’s award winning beef and lamb, as well as veggies, from the 242-acre farm. You can still pick up cuts in the shop, but the range has expanded dramatically to showcase a wide range of local produce: hand-made pies, pressed juices, excellent loaves of bread, quiches, yoghurts and cheeses.

Take a table in the café or on the sunny terrace to breakfast like a king or lunch on tasty home cooking: lamb tikka baguettes, duck egg frittata, chicken soup, all cooked to order. Staff are very friendly and never too busy for a chat.

Dogs are welcome on the terrace and great walks fan out across the Vale of Evesham if you fancy a leg stretch.
