Craft lovers will revel in a break at the Devon Guild of Craftsmen, which collects together crafts including textiles, jewellery and ceramics in three appealing exhibition spaces. The rooms are filled with the creativity of artists from across the region and in the shop you can find more locally sourced crafts and gifts.
The Terrace Cafe is understandably popular and you’d be forgiven for thinking some of the homemade cakes were exhibits: gooey banoffee, lemon and raspberry decorated with fresh flowers, or cappuccino are just some of the photogenic creations to date. For those wanting a more substantial meal there’s breakfasts with veggie options, homemade granola and yoghurt, toasties, daily tarts, falafel burgers and sharing platters among many other options. And of course cream teas; this is Devon after all. If you’re with your four-legged friend you are both welcome in the courtyard.
If it’s a brisk day outside, warm yourselves by the contemporary fire before getting back in the car; parking is just across the river.
