The counter at Two Magpies is heaped with irresistible goodies, enough to satisfy even the most ardent car munchies: pistachio-topped cakes, vegetarian sausage rolls and picture-perfect cinnamon swirls among them. (Don’t forget to pick up a loaf for your destination – they really are excellent.)
Business partners, Rebecca and Steve, started off with an artisan bakery in Southwold before opening six more places across East Anglia in response to booming popularity. This is the Magpie mothership housing a café, bakery school and plenty of ovens to supply bread and pastries to meet demand.
Order a coffee and a bun to go, or find a table in the airy café to enjoy the hubbub while the kids run off some energy in the playground. On Fridays the pizza oven is fired up for their famous sourdough pizzas, but you’ll have to be quick as they soon sell out.
