The Medicine Garden has adopted a Victorian walled garden, saving it from ruin and restoring the glasshouses to turn it into a nurturing space where visitors can reconnect with nature, take a little time out, stretch out in a tai chi class or shop the community of small businesses.
You’ll find the café in one of the former potting sheds, a comfortable shabby chic affair serving sandwiches, jacket potatoes and very good cakes. The garden and its borders are beautiful and have a run of tables beneath awnings along one wall, so you can enjoy them to the full over a meal. There’s a sand pit and play area for children to burn off some steam too.
Speaking of gardens, RHS Wisley is a short spin up the road and a mecca for horticulturalists, though if you’re anything like us, you won’t want to leave here.
There’s parking on site but there’s a (small) pay & display fee.
