Vegetarians and vegans, hold your horses here. Jan Wise, way ahead of the curve, has been impressing everyone with her creative plant-based dishes for a decade; her popular debut restaurant, The Veggie Red Lion, closed to make way for this bigger and better pub-restaurant.

This lovingly refurbished pub retains its traditional vibe and Jan and her chefs' food continues to sing; they know their flavours inside out and aren’t afraid to experiment with dishes from around the world. Everything is homemade and ingredients increasingly come from the raised beds and salvaged greenhouse in the garden. Try the Katsu cauliflower wings and mushroom and mozzarella Wellington following by the renowned Biscoff cheesecake, or scope out the always-interesting specials board. Children are well catered for with their own menu, books and games, while dogs can cosy up by the fire in the bar.
