It’s six minutes from Junction 19 but a valuable time investment as the motorway services alternative is especially unattractive. Brackenwood Garden Centre is down a long driveway of the once private parkland of Leigh Court Estate. Its 12 acres of plants and ornamental trees are an oasis of calm, and back onto miles of woodland. The garden centre is family owned and it shows in the way the staff are exceptionally friendly and helpful.
In the midst of the plants you’ll find the newly refurbished Garden Tea Room. It’s in the capable hands of Mark and Dotti who load the counter with delicious cakes and ply tables with good honest food, including homemade quiches, parsnip soup and truffle oil and exciting seasonal specials.Further down the lane from the garden centre is a small parking bay where you can take a stroll to visit the grotto overlooking the River Avon, or explore the ponds and myriad footpaths lacing through the woods beyond.
