The Smiddy Farm Shop stands on the site of the old village blacksmith’s, now transformed into a tantalising local food hub stocking produce from all over Scotland. Browse the shelves for fresh and local food and gifts, filling your basket with treats from the deli and butchery counter. The meat is all reared down the road and the game comes from the surrounding countryside; don’t leave without picking up one of Smiddy’s famed steak pies.
In the airy café, chefs whip up those same ingredients into delicious dishes (including an outstanding bacon roll). It’s busy but staff are smiley and efficient. Tuck into a Smiddy Burger, some homemade banoffee pie or a finger-licking peanut butter slice with a flat white coffee. Takeaways are available, as are fresh milk and shakes from the new vending machine, made using milk produced that very day by local dairy herds. The setting of Smiddy Farm's loos is spectacular, and is much remarked upon for those wanting to spend a panoramic penny.
