Riverside Tea Room sits overlooking the ford in pretty Eynsford, its window boxes brimming with flowers. Reminiscent of childhood sweet shops, it has a pastel pink door and leaded windows strung with bunting. Breakfast might be eggs Benedict with local honey-roasted ham, lunch could be a jacket sweet potato or filled baguette and if you’re lucky you’ll catch the afternoon scones warm from the oven. Dietary requirements are cheerfully accommodated and ingredients are sourced as locally as possible.

Business and family life intermingle here, with owner Lizzie’s kids often found doing their homework at tables after school, wading in the stream or kicking a football around outside. The kids’ menu shows that she knows how to get small children eating!

Visitors often drop in after visiting the heavenly lavender farm up the road. Pre-book Riverside’s Vintage Afternoon Tea for a princely Kentish stop.
