Beginning life in an achingly cool Citroën van, Providero’s bricks-and-mortar café sits at the top of a steep hill just off the North Wales Expressway in Llandudno Junction. Blow the cobwebs away with a walk along the harbour bridge to the medieval Conwy castle before heading to Providero to reward yourself with some of the best tea and coffee in Wales.
Smartly dressed on the outside with its grey-painted render and wood cladding, inside you’ll find the exposed brick walls and stripped wood floors of a very hip coffee house. Flat whites are exceptional, matched by the Turkish apple tea. Hot chocolate, jams and artisan bread is all locally-made and the delicious cakes are homemade – if you can resist the cakes and traybakes, you’re stronger willed than us! Grab a stool at the breakfast bar in the window, sunnily decorated with jam jars of fresh flowers, or find a sofa in the roomy lounge upstairs.
