Set in 30 acres of woodland, Ketteringham Hall is ideal for dog walkers, ramblers and families. Park among the trees and follow the path around to the back of house to find the timeless Orangery Tea Room, set – as you might imagine – in the elegant orangery. On sunny days you can grab an organic ice cream or homemade cake and satisfy that urge to walk down to the lake, or find a seat on the large terrace; a perfect spot for those just wanting to sit and admire the surroundings.
When it’s chillier, settle inside at a linen-laid table and gaze out of the beautiful windows across the lawns. Cakes, pastries, soups, sandwiches and salads are all freshly made and tea is by the pot, small or large – loose leaf, of course – along with the full range of good coffee. For the official Afternoon Tea, phone ahead, but don’t worry if you didn’t as there are plenty of other tempting tea items.
