Large Dickensian bay windows stand either side of the front door, one piled with an enticing and eclectic range of ceramics, tableware, books and gifts, the other a window onto the goodies in the café within.
Breakfast on almond croissants baked that morning, lunch on sandwiches, frittata and salads – perhaps quinoa with feta, mango and pomegranate – or pep up your afternoon with a Green and Blacks hot chocolate and a slice of home-baked pistachio and lemon drizzle cake. You can sit at one of the tables inside among the trinkets and fresh flowers or grab a pew on the sunny terrace at the front (though you’ll have to beat the cyclists to it; Nest is a popular mid-ride stop). Blankets are provided for world-watching on cooler days.
Dogs are very welcome and there are great walks around this pretty town for wearing them out before browsing Nest’s exquisite antiques and enjoying its Italian coffee.
