Lose yourself in the aisles of the gargantuan Malt House Emporium, a two-storey warehouse on the A46 just off Junction 9 overflowing filled with tantalising homewares, antiques, clothes and gifts. It gathers together 70 traders whose alluring collections – old and new – range from farmhouse tables to upcycled chests of drawers, retro kitchenware, chandeliers and vintage clothes.
Browse the stalls then put your feet up in The Ferns Bistro at the back. Its long run of floor-to-ceiling windows and the narrow terrace outside have lovely views over the Gloucestershire fields, though you’ll have to ignore the fast road in the foreground. Devoted to tea, it has 15 types of loose leaf varieties. Excellent barista coffee is also served alongside cakes, cheese scones, sandwiches and delicious homemade quiches.
There’s plenty of free parking outside and dogs are welcome inside on leads.
