Lose yourself in the aisles of the gargantuan Malt House Emporium, a two-storey warehouse that overflows with tantalising homewares, antiques, clothes and gifts. It gathers together 70 traders whose collections – old and new – range from farmhouse tables to upcycled furniture, retro kitchenware, chandeliers and vintage clothing.

If you haven't visited for a while, prepare to be impressed by the revamped Ferns Bistro. Shop to your heart's content then follow your nose to enjoy feta and roasted veg, stuffed burgers and croissants, and other winter warmers in season. Summer is for lighter dishes, salads and smoothies. The Ferns' long run of floor-to-ceiling windows and its narrow terrace offer lovely views over rural Gloucestershire (just ignore the road in the foreground). Leaf tea devotees will appreciate the burgeoning selection and barista-styled coffee is served with sumptuous cakes, cheese scones and toasted filled breads. Parking is free and dogs are welcome on leads.
