Recycling/sustainability practices
A contagious enthusiasm for sustainability permeates this first-rate Flintshire farm shop. Fruit and veg are grown just outside and the milk that you can buy from the machine is produced by the happy Ayrshire cows across the road. Bornn enamelware crockery, honey made on the estate by Hawarden bees and sustainable cleaning products can all be found on their cool and colourful shelves.
Visit the airy cafe to taste the difference that provenance makes to flavours: the brunches are delicious and the sandwiches made with warm (if you are lucky) bread from the in-house bakery. Outside, there is a play area for little ones and a swing attached to an ancient tree. The 100-year-old PYO fields offer abundant fruit and veg in summer and autumn; September's pumpkin picking is especially popular. The estate also has a campsite and wedding venue and is home to The Good Life Society (the farm shop’s sister business that offers luxury food, craft and wellness events year-round). Check online to see what's on during your visit.
