Hanley Farm Shop and its deli overlook the beautiful Severn Valley on the A48 between Chepstow and Lydney. Originally an 18th-century barn and coach house, this is now a culinary showcase for artisanal food and drink producers within a 30-mile radius, selling everything from beers to berries.
Growers on a land-share scheme next door supply some of the shop's seasonal vegetables, herbs and micro-greens; the butchery is known for the organically reared beef from the farm, alongside lamb, pork and chicken from nearby farmers. With its exposed oak beams, comfortable sofas, armchairs and a wood-burning stove, the café is relaxed and homely. Enjoy its reassuringly fresh food with a pie, quiche, sausage roll or one of chef's lovely home-baked cakes.
There’s a golf driving range and even an on-site florist: if your round overruns, buy a bouquet-shaped apology before heading home. (Check ahead for an update on Hanley's EV charger status.)
