A9

Skirt the tulip and sunflower field at the entrance to Alison and Ian’s working farm to find this solid, timber-clad farm shop. Set in the gently rolling hills of Perthshire, its view is maximised for those inside by the stunning floor-to-ceiling windows.

The shop is a treasure trove, warmly lit by woven wicker lights. Browse the range of regional produce including the farm’s own beef (butchered in house), eggs and home-baking, plus artisan products such as pottery, art prints, scented candles and homewares. Everything stocked here must pass the family’s ‘tried and tasted’ test before reaching the shelves, so it’s a great place to stock up on supplies for your holiday destination.

The café and adjoining conservatory are strung with festoon lights and brimming with geraniums. In summer, the glass doors are flung open to let the breeze in, while in winter the wood burner is stoked up to keep the cold at bay. Food is freshly prepared in the kitchen, from soups and burgers to cheese soufflés and gooseberry tarts. Don’t miss the Orkney fudge cheesecake.
