It’s hard not to love Froggatts Tea Rooms and Vintage Shop, and those who follow the sign from the road on a whim are invariably delighted. Standing at the side of the farm track, overlooking fields of sunflowers, this former farm shop is now an adorable café packed with upcycled furniture – either to buy or to sit at while you have a bite to eat. Sally Froggatt and Helen Cooper love all things vintage and have painted, embellished, reupholstered and restored a wonderfully eclectic range of items. They too are responsible for many of the home-made cakes, scones, jams and pickles on sale alongside appealing retro homewares, tins of chalk paint and home-reared rare breed pork.
It’s an eclectic mix, just like the family’s Featherknowle Farm, which has added fishing ponds and a caravan park to its portfolio after centuries of rearing livestock. Eyes peeled for the new glamping cabins, soon to be unveiled. A light lunch on the tea room’s covered terrace watching bees drift among blooming pots of flowers is pure bliss.
