A46

The airy, family-run Farmers Fayre is found on the sprawling National Agricultural Exhibition Centre at Stoneleigh Park (don’t be put off by the barrier and cheery security guards), underlining its commitment to good, locally farmed ingredients. Raid the farm shop if you like what you taste; it's packed with the produce - from chutneys and home-baked cakes to cheeses and regional delicacies - of over 40 local suppliers. There are tempting homewares and antiques, too.

The restaurant has seating indoors - enjoy a fresh-ground coffee near the wood burner - or out in the garden, marquee or shed. People rave about the breakfasts and Sunday roasts, which come with 'hearty portions guaranteed'. Brunch and lunch include bacon sarnies, scorched mackerel salad with beetroot, red cabbage and watercress, or mushroom, garlic, mozzarella and spinach tarts. Many dishes are prepared on the in-store Aga. Drop by on a Weds or Sat to savour a wood-fired sourdough pizza.
