New Buckenham is lucky to have the enterprising Stacey and her family-run Angel Cakes Tearoom. After ten years’ as a cake-making hobbyist, supplying friends and family with enviable edible creations, she took the plunge and opened a community-spirited café. And it’s not just afternoon tea on offer – full English breakfast is also available, as is full American complete with pancakes and syrup. Stacey makes all the cakes upstairs where she also runs baking classes and hosts events.
Downstairs, the double-fronted shop windows lend a relaxed airy feel to the spacious café. Tables, chairs and sofas are set out in front of a counter displaying the days’ wares. Cakes change regularly, often reflecting whatever seasonal event is closest, and showing great culinary imagination. Who could resist a cheese and bacon scone or homemade cherry Bakewell? Kids will be wowed by unicorn cupcakes and skeleton gingerbread men for Halloween. Parking is easy, right on the street outside.
