This cosy deli is a proper treat just seconds from the main road. It’s located in the intriguing town of Poundbury, an experimental development built on Duchy of Cornwall land. The architects’ aim was to combat post-war suburban sprawl and create a town with real character. They certainly succeeded.
The Potting Shed sits on the edge of the beautiful central square. The architectural detail of the streets transports you to the continent – as do the contents and décor of the deli and café. The menu is an homage to the Mediterranean often with a modern twist, such as goats' cheese, pear, and walnut salad; grilled halloumi, couscous and quinoa Buddha bowls; or warm beetroot and thyme salmon. There’s plenty to tickle the fancy of vegetarians, vegans and carnivores alike. T
The coffee is ‘the best in Poundbury’ according to locals and, if the smell as you enter is anything to go by, they’re right. The deli counter has everything you need for a quick pit-stop, and you can also order your hot drinks to go. Parking is plentiful outside on the square.
