M3

The Courtyard is within a horse's neigh of Ascot. Fresh, relaxing and festooned with foliage, it's what happened when industry professionals Ben and Ashley followed their dreams.

Their restaurant-quality food includes mouth-watering breakfasts, a daily-changing specials board, hot ciabattas, hearty salads and light bites. Our menu favourite is too tough to decide: it's a three-way tie between the salt beef ciabatta, the Aberdeen Angus burger and the signature Courtyard salad. There are plenty of veggie, plant-based and gluten-free options, too. At the cake counter, freshly-baked cakes, cookies and pastries lead the charge, all expertly crafted in-house. The gluten-free Belgian chocolate and walnut brownies are a must.

On sunny days, lounge in the courtyard garden where there's plenty of seating and well-behaved dogs are welcome. This is a lovely spot to pause and soak up village life before exploring Windsor Great Park, Virginia Water or one of Britain's finest ornamental gardens, The Savill Garden.
