Lambs once took their first tentative steps in this wooden barn. Today, the sheep have gone and the Lambing Shed has become a modern farm shop stocking Cheshire’s finest produce. A bank of floor-to-ceiling windows make the former barn sunny and light and the shop is stocked to the brim with delicious products sourced to the philosophy of ‘fresh, local and simple’. Head to the deli for hamper-worthy cheese, charcuterie and homemade pies and coleslaw.
From an elegant patio studded with neatly trimmed box hedges and shady tables you can glimpse the 400 acres of Cheshire fields from which the Mitchell family have been producing award-winning meats for decades. The meat is available to buy in the butchery (ask Master Butcher Stewart for advice) or to eat in the deli and café, where you’ll find burgers, house-cured bacon and freshly baked sausage rolls; all the lamb and beef comes straight from the farm. For lighter bites, there’s Tatton rarebit, quiche of the day or a slab of home-baked cake.
