Skirt Alsager’s mill pond and countryside pub to find the Hall Farm Shop, a friendly family business housed in an old stone milking parlour at the edge of the farmyard. The shop is known for its butchery, stocking meat from neighbouring farms. It has a good range of homemade sausages, burgers, cuts and ready-to-cook options for cheats (meatballs, chicken carveries in the fresh counter, plenty more in the freezer). The deli is perfect for picnics and pantries. Stock up on cooked meats, a delicious range of cheeses (Caerphilly and leek our favourite), olives, jams, chutneys, fresh bread and sausage rolls. There's also a range of gifts, greeting cards and books.
The café has a warm feel, with tiled floor, chunky wooden furniture and copper pendulum lights hanging over the sage-green counter. Dishes are made to order by the cook, who has a talent for soups, quiches, sandwiches and cakes; cooked breakfasts are a real crowd-pleaser and are served till 2pm.
