It’s worth zipping off the motorway just for the fabulous views over the Cotswold foothills from this café's vantage point edging the Tortworth Estate. Steve and Wendy Ball and their three sons all farm locally in the Wotton-under-Edge area and their produce fills this family-run farm shop.
At their Farmer's Table café, breakfasts are hearty and fresh and lunch could be a loaded roast beef baguette, cheesy omelette or chicken and bacon salad. The coffee is rich, the milk local and the real Belgian hot chocolate best served with a biscuit or slice of one of Wendy's lovely cakes.
There's home-grown beef, with lamb and poultry at the butchery counter plus over 300 homemade pies, cakes and treats. Many vegetables are Gloucestershire grown and there’s Cotswold fudge, locally-pressed rapeseed oil, local cheese and a lovely gift selection. Their frozen pies and lasagnes will make dinner at your destination a doddle.
