Standing proudly on Hill Road and close to Clevedon’s graceful Victorian pier (itself worth a visit especially for sunset), Murrays is a food emporium dedicated to the best produce that Britain and Italy can offer. Restaurant, delicatessen, artisan bakery and Italian wine shop rolled into one, it has become as much a community hub as a foodie destination, and John’s Italian roots shine through in the cured meats, cheeses, anchovies, olive oil, balsamic vinegars and Amalfi lemons as well as friendly conversation.
The restaurant serves seasonal dishes lovingly made from fresh ingredients: chicken and artichoke rillette terrine, capellini with Cornish crab and fennel, slow braised beef neck. The hummus and freshly baked bread are famous, but whatever you do don’t miss the Parma ham and cremini mushroom lasagne.
Parking can be a little tight in town so not one for a whistlestop.
