Persevere down fiddly but well-signposted roads and you’ll find the Moody Sow, a modern farm shop brimming with artisan food. It’s housed in a well-lit, contemporary barn with a stream running by and pigs snuffling happily in the woods. Appealing counters are stacked with local cheese, homemade Danishes, Moody Sow jam, honey, fresh bread baked daily on-site, pink lemonade and craft beers ready to loot for finger-licking picnics. Scotch eggs are the speciality; enormous and award-winning. Try the sweet chilli chicken or black pudding.
The butchery is fabulous: pick up melt-in-your-mouth steaks, home-cured bacon, fresh sausages and juicy chops for the BBQ, then reward yourself with a coffee in the small café upstairs.
Animal lovers large and small will adore the farm park next door, part of the same complex, with a huge range of animals to meet and feed (ponies, sheep, goats, chickens, sheep and reindeer) as well as a soft play barn, go-karts and real diggers.
