Lavish Tredegar House and the Morgan family have been an important part of the Newport community for over 500 years. Designed to impress, the house was once host to extravagant parties for the upper crust and comes alive through captivating tales of war heroism, inheritance disputes and Russian princesses.
These days, Tredegar is a destination in itself, with something for just about everyone: a stable block of craft shops, bags of green space, beautifully tended gardens, play areas, fitness stations, ducks to feed and an opulent historic house to explore. You’re encouraged to unwind in the surroundings so you can loan a blanket from the Visitor Reception and lie out on the grass.
The Brewhouse Tea-room is a perfect spot for refuelling on scrumptious, seasonal meals and snacks. Some ingredients are plundered from the kitchen garden to make soups, Welsh rarebit, quiches and carrot cake with profits going back into the conservation of the house. There’s bags of parking (pay and display) and an electric car charging point..
