Wales’ oldest vineyard is a delight in 20-acres of woodland, landscaped gardens and, of course, vines, which run down to the Ely valley.
The bar and terrace offers a casual menu: grilled fish of the day, overstuffed ciabatta sandwiches, Middle Eastern mezze. Well-behaved dogs on leads are welcome and rewarded with a dog treat if they wear appropriate puppy eyes. Llanerch Restaurant, housed in the old farmhouse with a sunny conservatory, offers more substantial meals, from pub classics like fish and chips and burgers as well as fine dining options, and the ever-popular afternoon tea.
Explore the beautiful grounds, lakes and precious woodland, rich with flowers and wildlife – eyes peeled for wild orchids, owls, dabchicks, Canada geese and kingfishers. Guided tours of the vineyard run every day from April to October, but must be booked in advance. Wine tasting is included in the price and you can buy some at a small shop on the way out.
