Allington's cavernous wood-clad farm shop is an award-winning Wiltshire food hub at the gateway to the Cotswolds. It's filled with fresh fruit and veg and has a butchery and delicatessen as well as locally produced speciality foods and store cupboard essentials. Its range of cards, gifts and bespoke hampers is impressive. The Farm Shop opened in 1981 and the Reynolds family have worked the 700-acre farm for three generations, using low-intensity techniques to raise cereals, potatoes, cattle, pigs and sheep. Find the fruits of their labour on the shelves.
The café, with its light-filled conservatory, attracts the crowds with its freshly cooked and wholesome food. Breakfast on a homemade sausage or smoky bacon sandwich or try a slice of warm banana bread, oozing with chocolate. At lunch, tackle a burger or, even better, one of the kitchen's seasonal specials. Digest on the sunny terrace with a cup of great coffee or take your spoils on to a hidden Wiltshire picnic spot.
