The shop at Allington Bar Farm is cavernous. A wood-clad building at the roadside with sacks of potatoes piled outside the door, it hosts a butchery, delicatessen, locally produced store cupboard essentials and speciality grocery items and a considered range of tasteful cards, gifts including bespoke hampers and toys. The Reynolds family have worked the 700-acre farm for three generations, using low-intensity techniques to raise cereals, potatoes, cattle, pigs and sheep, much of which is available as produce to buy in the shop.
The conservatory café throngs with people enjoying wholesome farm food. Breakfast on sausages and bacon or almond and pumpkin seed granola with fruit and yoghurt; try the chicken chorizo burger, vintage mature Cheddar ploughman’s or baked goat cheese, bacon and toasted walnut salad for lunch. Milkshakes are made with real strawberries and cakes and desserts all crafted by their in house pastry chef. On sunny days, take advantage of the decked terrace or picnic in the glorious Wiltshire countryside.
