Three Trees is a family-run, mixed farm housed on what was once the Chiseldon army camp. Take a pew in the airy café and you can idly watch sheep and cows chew the cud against the backdrop of Liddington Castle.
The coffee is strong and can be boosted with farm-fresh cream. Cakes are varied and home-baked – the cheese scones have a devoted following. Tasty meals and snacks, such as Welsh rarebit, sandwiches, chilli con carne and jacket potatoes, are crafted from ingredients that you can buy in the well-stocked shop. Much of the meat comes from the fields (which makes for unbeatable breakfast sausages), the rest from a community of local Wiltshire producers. You and your dog can eat outside on the decking if weather permits.
Pick up a sirloin for dinner at the onsite butchery, a bag of fudge for the journey, some Cotswold Lavender hand cream or a cheeky tipple of Ramsbury vodka.
