A bone fide all-rounder, Cobbs Farm Shop has a butcher, delicatessen, florist, cheese counter – even a vineyard. The brightly lit shop has a country chic feel and scours the surrounds for the best local produce – cured meat, pork pies, salads, A-grade cuts of meat, all kinds of veg, and home-grown, Alder Ridge sparkling wine. You could do your weekly shop here and pick up gorgeous gifts at the same time, from handmade soap to ceramics and toys.
The chic café with leafy green plants, wooden tables and cream walls sells delicious brunches and lunches that vary from light bites to filling one-pot meals; perhaps stacked pancakes, bubble and squeak topped with a poached egg, a Mexican quesadilla, quiche and soup of the day and Sunday roasts. The menu caters for dietary needs with a seasonally changing array showcasing local and home grown produce.
Kids will love the play barn, sandpit, giant games and seasonal events such as pumpkin carving or an open-air cinema screening. (The play barn must be booked in advance - can be done online at www.cobbsplaybarn.co.uk - and charges admission for adults and children.)
