Skirt round a lush field and pass the 'freshly laid eggs' honesty box and you'll spot the red-gabled barns of Newlyns Farm. Here, friendly Jason the butcher prepares the meat that the family has produced here for four generations, and the piled-high deli counter sways with homemade pies, sausage rolls, pasties, soups and salads. The big farm shop sells fresh fruit and veg and seductive foodie gifts, and has a fishmonger and specialist Cheese Room.
The large, bright café with picture windows leads onto a terrace where you can breakfast on home-cured bacon with soft poached egg, or rolled porridge oats with cream, fruit and Hampshire honey, all with a steaming cuppa or freshly squeezed juice. For lunch, opt for a burger, triple-stacked sandwich or piggy platter.
Cookery courses show you how to use the farm’s produce to its best seasonal advantage. If you’d rather someone cooked, there are dinner-party worthy ready meals with farm ingredients in the freezer.
