It’s easy to see why people flow constantly into the Shelford Deli. Within the walls of the stylish, oak-framed building, the menu is crammed with fresh, tasty salads, soups, frittata and proper artisan pizza – all simple and seasonal. Their homemade cakes are irresistible, perhaps carrot, chocolate mocha with hazelnut, or on Fridays the famous Deli doughnuts including honeycomb and salted caramel, washed down with excellent coffee.
Owners Drew and Nikki have been part of the UK’s food revolution since 1999, and founded their kitchen on the simple premise of offering Cambridgeshire delicious food made from sustainable, tasty ingredients. It’s gone from strength to strength, growing from a tiny shop to the current, purpose-built café and bistro. There’s a warming wood burner for colder months and a beautiful sunlit garden for summer with a wooden playhouse for children, but to get there you’ll need to pass a gauntlet of temptation: pick up some artisan bread, coffee, salads or gifts on your way.
