M1

Castle Donington's charming village centre, with its farmers’ market and Saxon history, is well worth a visit if heading to the race circuit or East Midlands airport nearby.

The high street's No. 11 Deli is the proud recipient of an Independent Retailer of the Year award. Owner Liza invites local makers to stock their products in her shop, saying, "Buying local produce keeps the local businesses going. Without them you haven't got a town!" Thanks to her efforts, the deli is packed with treats like Codnor's Derbyshire cooked ham, Breedon's handmade chocolates and the buttery quiches of the Yorkshire Bakery.

The friendly team serves fuelling breakfasts (almond croissants, bacon butties) and tasty sandwiches (hot beef, stilton and red onion chutney or cheddar crunch), plus an array of salads, pies and cakes. Their giant sausage rolls - 'Hogs' - have people queuing down the street. People-watch from a window seat or grab your coffee or lunch to go.
