Piled with unusual gifts, crockery, homeware, reclamation finds, greetings cards, furniture, plants and garden goodies, the Garden Barn is a veritable emporium comprising a labyrinth of connecting rooms.
The shop began in the mid-1980s as a traditional farm shop and has diversified creatively into a treasure trove – it has an unrivalled collection of Victorian chimney pots, should you need one. It’s difficult for even the most hardened minimalists not to walk away with a trinket or two.
In the centre of the action a café offers rich coffee and sweet treats. Eat at the open-plan tables by the counter, head for the quieter tea room upstairs with log-burner, reading materials and countryside views, or sup your drinks al fresco in the tumbling gardens during summer months.
